Josh Allen was emotional about the honor.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen got his Wyoming jersey retired on Saturday.
It was an emotional day for Allen, who was joined by his parents and wife.
"First off, I just want to say thank you for everybody coming out tonight. This is such an amazing honor, a huge blessing," Allen said during the ceremony. "There's so many people that I can thank for this achievement. A lot of teammates here. Love you guys.
"Coach Bohl, coach [Brent Vigen], people that believed in me. The fans, and the support here in Wyoming. I'm so honored and blessed to represent this university and this beautiful state. I love you guys. Thank you. God bless. Go Pokes, and it will always suck to be a CSU Ram."
Allen spent three years at Wyoming. He threw for 5,066 yards and 44 touchdowns in 27 games.
The 2024 NFL MVP, Allen is eighth in school history for career passing yards and his 3,203 yards in 2016 are the fifth most in a single season in school history.
The Bills selected Allen with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Allen has established himself as one of the best QBs in NFL history.
In 122 games with Buffalo, Allen has 29,143 passing yards, 213 passing touchdowns, 4,513 rushing yards and 75 rushing touchdowns. The 29-year-old is one rushing touchdown away from having the most rushing touchdowns in NFL history by a QB.
The Bills are 7-4 on the season. Allen has 2,709 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, 371 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.
All signs point toward the New England Patriots (10-2) winning the AFC East for the first time since 2019. Allen and the Bills must finish the season strong to avoid missing the playoffs.
Buffalo faces the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. It's a must-win game for the Bills, who are coming off a bad loss against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. Allen was sacked eight games against the Texans and hit 12 times.
"It's not fun," Allen said. "I ran into a couple myself. I've got to be better at throwing the ball away. Too many times, I was going backwards."
