A new study shows the Buffalo Bills ranked among the NFL’s most penalized teams over the last decade, with more than 1,200 accepted penalties. Find out who are the most penalized players in that span.

The Buffalo Bills like to take a lot of penalties. At least, that’s what a new study detailing the most penalized teams in the league shows.

A recent study by sports-betting outlet InGame has put together data of the most penalized teams of the last decade. And, according to their findings, the Bills were the third-most penalized team, in terms of accepted penalties, between 2014-2024 during the regular season.

The data shows that Buffalo has been flagged 1,235 times during that span, that's only behind the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. Of the penalties, the most common were false starts, offensive holding, defensive offsides, and unnecessary roughness.

Being flagged over 1,200 times is sure to rack up the yards. In fact, not only is Buffalo a top-5 team in terms of penalties against, but they are fourth in the league in total yards. The study says that the Bills have given up 10,369 yards in penalties. The three teams ahead of the Bills in yards are the Raiders, Seahawks, and New York Jets.

Of course, with the Bills having so many penalty calls against them, the next question goes to who actually has been the worst offender. Luckily, in extra data provided to Bills Roundtable, that answer is available.

According to the gathered information, left tackle Dion Dawkins leads the team both in accepted penalties and total yards lost. Since entering the league in 2017, Dawkins has committed 60 accepted penalties for 471 yards. Coming in second for the Bills is former defensive end Jerry Hughes with 48 penalties for 425 yards.

Moving down the top 10 sees a mix of players from both sides of the ball. In terms of total penalties, third through fifth are Spencer Brown (34), Tre’Davious White (29), and Jordan Mills (25).

Going over to yards, and the top five remain the same players, but in different orders. White has cost the team 271 yards; Brown, 261; and Mills, 202.

If you want to look at this year, the Bills have 89 accepted penalties for 745 yards through 14 games. That has the Bills the 12th-least penalized team in the league, but the 15th-most in terms of yards. And, if you were wondering, Dawkins is also the most-penalized Bills player this season with 9 for 55 yards.
