The Buffalo Bills just received a crushing blow to their defense.

It was expected that defensive tackle Ed Oliver was going to miss Thursday Night Football’s battle with the Miami Dolphins, but now linebacker Matt Milano will also be out with a pectoral injury.

Milano, who has spent his entire nine year career with the Bills, has been dealing with an abundance of injuries in the past two seasons, and it’s clear that this season is no different.

He injured his pec in Sunday’s win over the New York Jets, and Dorian Williams eventually stepped in his place.

Williams is no stranger to being the guy to step up. In Milano’s absence, Williams stepped in admirably, with his first season as a full-time starter.

He ended up leading the team in combined tackles with 117 and three fumble recoveries.

For Milano, it’s an unsettling trend for the veteran, as well as the Bills who have valued him for as long as he’s been a part of the organization.

Currently, it doesn’t seem like Milano’s injury is too serious, but given his history over the past two seasons, his availability is something to keep a close eye on.

Linebacker Dorian Williams, who led the team in total tackles last season will start in Milano’s place.

Oliver’s injury appears to be a week-to-week situation, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

After making a heroic forced fumble that kickstarted the Bills’ 15-point fourth quarter comeback against the Baltimore Ravens, Oliver was then stepped on in practice that put him in a walking boot.

He was seen using a scooter to get around the Bills’ facility.

Luckily for Buffalo, its depth has shown with flying colors. Veteran DaQuan Jones stepped in admirably in Week 2’s win over the Jets, posting a sack, and the Bills will continue to give reps to rookies TJ Sanders and Deone Walker.

Coach Sean McDermott was highly encouraged with what he saw out of his rookies, and based on practice this week, expects them both to take another step.

"I thought the guys that stepped up last week did a really good job for us, and we'll need more of that this week as well. So that's one of the things I love about our team," he said after Week 2’s win.

Sanders was a second round pick in the 2025 Draft coming out of South Carolina.

The Bills kick off tonight against the Dolphins at 8:15 p.m. ET and will be streamed on Amazon Prime.
