Ten players clutter Buffalo’s active list as star receiver DJ Moore sports a non-contact jersey and Keon Coleman nurses an ankle ahead of Sunday's clash with the Chargers.
After being off since last Thursday's win over the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills returned to the practice field on Wednesday to start preparation for this weekend's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
And while most of the team was on the field in some way, Buffalo's injury report is a bit bigger than it was heading into Week 2.
Ten players were listed on Wednesday's injury report after practice. Of the 10, four were full participants, three were limited, and three didn't participate at all.
Starting with the full participants, linebackers Joe Andreessen and Terrel Bernard were listed as dealing with knee injuries but still practiced. Bradley Chubb was back on the list with his thumb, and Ty Johnson was finally a full participant for the first time this season.
Those limited included defensive back Jordan Hancock with a hamstring, guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and wide receiver DJ Moore. Moore was seen in a red non-contact jersey during the media portion of practice. Afterward, he said that he felt "great" and that "we're going to be good." Whether that means he plays on Sunday will be determined by the rest of practice, but signs are moving in the right direction for Buffalo's top receiver.
Moving on to those who didn't practice. T.J. Sanders was out after undergoing an appendectomy on Tuesday. He had missed last week's game with an illness, and it's expected, barring a miracle, that Sanders will miss at least another week.
Ed Oliver, who suffered a hip injury during warmups last week, also didn't practice. Head coach Joe Brady didn't have an update on his status before practice on Wednesday, but more should come as the week progresses.
Finally, Keon Coleman was a DNP with an ankle injury. If you recall, Coleman hurt his ankle against the Lions last week. He would leave the game for a few plays, but quickly made his way back on the field, where he had six catches for 63 yards.
Coleman has been praised for his performance in practice and during games so far this season. The 2024 second-round pick is expected to continue to play a big role in the offense this season, especially if Moore misses any game time.
For what it's worth, Brady said some players who didn't practice on Wednesday have a chance to play on Sunday. Based on his ability to return to the game last week and with the extra rest, Coleman could be one of those players.
