Bills Rise in NFL Power Rankings After Beating Patriots cover image

The Buffalo Bills are 10-4.

The Buffalo Bills improved to 10-4 on the season after beating the New England Patriots and one NFL analyst thinks Sean McDermott's group is the fourth-best team in the league.

In his latest power rankings, Eric Edholm of NFL.com ranked the Bills fourth.

The Bills were down 21-0 to the Patriots. It looked like Buffalo would get blown out on the road and New England would clinch the AFC East division.

However, Josh Allen put his Superman cape on and led the Bills to a tremendous win. The 2024 NFL MVP went 19 of 28 through the air for 193 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 11 carries for 48 yards.

"Josh Allen had just 35 pass yards at halftime, and Buffalo trailed, 24-7, with its division-title dreams seemingly up in smoke," Edholm wrote. "But the Bills rallied with incredible fury, reminding the NFL world just how dangerous they are, especially in a post-Patrick Mahomes playoff environment. The win didn't clinch anything for Buffalo, but it did reinstill the belief that this team is capable of some magic.

"We can talk about how the Bills looked woefully unprepared for the start of the game, and they were lucky to only be down 17 points at the break, but we can also have a discussion on how beating the Bills requires keeping Allen and James Cook in check for four quarters. The Patriots couldn't do that, and I am not sure how many teams outside of the Texans and Broncos might be capable of that in the AFC field. It's been a strange path, but the Bills are nearly as desperate and dangerous as they've recently been."

The Bills have three games left in the regular season. They face the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets.

Allen and Co. should easily beat the Browns and Jets. The Eagles game will be difficult, but Buffalo has arguably the best QB in the NFL on its side.

After the Patriots game, Allen now has 3,276 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 535 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns on the season. The future Hall of Famer is completing 70.0% of his passes.
