The Buffalo Bills should look to make a splash via the trade market this year.
The Buffalo Bills will be entering their bye week coming up with a record of 5-1 in the NFL season.
2026 has gotten off to a good start for the Bills, with the offense fully clicking on all cylinders. Star quarterback Josh Allen has been playing lights-out, leading Buffalo to be a top team in the AFC again.
However, even with how strong the offense has been, the defense has continued to be a real work in progress. Buffalo has struggled to stop the opponent each week, and this could lead to more problems down the line.
With the NFL trade deadline slowly approaching on November 10, the Bills are going to have to do something to address these defense problems. Buffalo wants to win a Super Bowl this season, but as currently constructed, it could be tough against tougher competition.
One name that could make sense for the Bills to consider going after is star defensive end DeForest Buckner of the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts Pro Bowl star has been making waves in trade rumors for a while, but especially over the last 24 hours.
Buckner voiced his displeasure with how the team has been following the Colts loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. This has led to all sorts of trade rumors around the
In six games for the Colts this season, Buckner has recorded 26 total tackles (four for loss), 4.0 sacks, one fumble recovery, and three pass deflections. The former Oregon product could be exactly what the Bills need, giving this defensive unit a massive boost for the season.
Buckner has recored at least 6.5 sacks in seven of his last eight seasons in the NFL, and Buffalo could use his services. The veteran seems to be looking for a way out of Indianapolis, and the Bills could offer him a chance to play for a winning team again.
The star defender is on an expiring deal, meaning that Buffalo wouldn't have to take on any long-term salary in a potential trade. If the pairing didn't work out, the Bills could just cut ties with Buckner following the conclusion of the season.
But in the meantime, Buffalo could add one of the more explosive defensive ends in all of football, giving this team a better shot at winning the Super Bowl. If anything, the Bills should be calling the Volts to see what it might take to land Buckner this year.
