Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen was issued a strong message regarding his placement on a quarterback ranking.
The Buffalo Bills grabbed a dramatic Week 1 win over the Houston Texans to kick off the new NFL season, making a statement early on.
Going on the road to take down one of the expected best teams this year proves how dangerous Buffalo can be. Entering the season, there were questions around Buffalo, especially with a new head coach in Joe Brady.
Under Brady, the Bills were able to take down one of the best defenses in the league. Brady put quarterback Josh Allen in strong positions to succeed, with Allen taking full advantage.
Prior to this game, Allen had struggled against the Texans, going 0-for-4 against Houston. But in the first matchup with Brady as his head coach, Allen looked like an even better version of himself.
The signal-caller threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner late in the fourth quarter. But Allen also rushed for two touchdowns, putting his dual-threat ability on full display.
NFL analyst Henry McKenna of Fox Sports ranked all quarterbacks in the league heading into Week 2 of the season. In the ranking, Allen came in at the top spot, showing strong praise following his incredible game against Houston.
Allen looked the part as the best quarterback in the league on Sunday, tearing apart one of the best defenses in the NFL. If this is the type of performance that Allen will display this season, he not only could be in line for another MVP award, but the Bills may be favorites to win the Super Bowl.
The veteran signal-caller has been one of the top players in the NFL over the last few years, but the Bills just haven't been able to get over the hump. However, this season, many believe that they may be able to do so, with Brady now leading the charge.
Buffalo made the change for Brady to help Allen, while also getting a new voice into the locker room. And it seemed to make a massive difference against the Texans in how the Bills both played the game, but also understood situations.
And if Week 1 was any indication, the Bills could be in line for a special season coming up. Next up for Buffalo will be a primetime matchup against the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football, opening the new Bills stadium in the process.
