The Buffalo Bills have been urged to monitor a Minnesota Vikings linebacker as a potential cap casualty target.
The 2026 NFL season is coming up quickly and once again the Buffalo Bills are being viewed as a team to watch for Super Bowl contention.
Led by Josh Allen, the Bills are always going to have a fighting chance. However, there are a lot of changes in Buffalo from last season to this year.
Most notably, head coach Sean McDermott is no longer in town. The team decided to part ways with him after another disappointing finish to the year. To replace him, the Bills simply promoted former offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
With that being said, the team also brought in more talent this offseason.
Among the headline additions were wide receiver D.J. Moore, who was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears, free agent addition Bradley Chubb, and the signing of veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Now that June 1 is right around the corner, there is a chance Buffalo could be given an opportunity to make more roster upgrades.
Plenty of teams around the NFL will make cap casualty cuts in the near future. For teams like the Bills, it will be a chance to add more talent to go further all-in on pursuing a Super Bowl run.
Sports Illustrated's Randy Gurzi has urged Buffalo to monitor Minnesota Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman as a potential option.
Blake Cashman Could Be Perfect Target for Bills' Defense
Last season with the Vikings, the 30-year-old linebacker played in 13 regular season games. He racked up 144 tackles to go along with two sacks, a forced fumble, and two defended passes.
Originally drafted by the New York Jets with the No. 157 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Cashman has carved out a nice career for himself. In seven NFL season, he has totaled 71 games played, 437 tackles, 12 sacks, a forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, an interception, and 18 defended passes.
Bringing in more depth is never a bad idea for a hopeful contender. Cashman could push for a starting job in Buffalo, or he could simply be elite depth.
Of course, this is just an idea. Cashman remains on the roster in Minnesota and there is no guarantee that he will be made available.
However, if the Vikings do decide to release him, the Bills could make perfect sense as a landing spot for the veteran linebacker.
