The Buffalo Bills have to fix their defense before the trade deadline expires this year.
The Buffalo Bills are 4-1 on the new NFL season, coming off one of the bigger wins of the NFL season.
Buffalo took down the Los Angeles Rams on the road, winning an overtime thriller to get back on track. The Bills' offense was once again special, but the defense remains a work in progress, with Buffalo allowing a ton of yards to Los Angeles.
The Bills need to deal with the defense before it is too late, and with the NFL trade deadline coming up, the team could elect to make some moves.
NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has named the Bills as a possible landing spot for cornerback Donte Jackson of the Los Angeles Chargers. Knox sees Jackson as having a trade value of a conditional fifth-round draft pick, which could be perfect for Buffalo.
With the Chargers starting the NFL season 0-5, many executives around the league believe that the team could be making some moves. Jackson is one of the players who is expected to be traded, and the Bills could use his services.
Buffalo's defense has been decent to open the year, but they could use more depth going forward. The secondary for the Bills has been a weak point all year, and it became very evident against the Rams this week, despite the win.
Adding Jackson as a depth piece could really help, and he was good for the Chargers a year ago. Playing in 15 games for Los Angeles, Jackson only allowed an opposing passer rating of 56.8 in coverage, showing what he can do on the field.
Injuries have been the big problem for Jackson, but whenever he has been healthy, he excels for his team. The Bills could take a flyer on Jackson, giving him a chance to help this unit out for the remainder of the year.
Buffalo saw Jackson earlier this season when they faced off against the Chargers, with the cornerback having one pass deflection. If anything, Jackson could be a depth piece for the Bills to use moving forward, offering this team more to work with.
If Jackson is available for a fifth-round pick or less, the Bills should be all over a deal to bring him to Buffalo. The Bills want to win the Super Bowl this season, and unless they fix the defense, it could be a challenge again for this team.
