In a new interview, Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane had some not-so-subtle remarks to those who were upset about the hiring of Joe Brady
When the Buffalo Bills hired Joe Brady as the 21st head coach in franchise history, plenty of fans and people around the team felt it to be a safe hire. Despite the coaching staff failing to get over the hump and reach a Super Bowl with one of the best quarterbacks in the league, the team decided to stick with a member of that staff to lead the way.
General Manager Brandon Beane knew there would be backlash to the hire.
Speaking with Tyler Dunne of Go Long TD (subscription required), the new President of Football Operations spoke about people complaining about the hire. To him, that type of noise needs to be ignored because, as he said, it's about what he believes is the "right selection" for the job.
“F*** the outside," Beane said. "It’s about the right selection for this team. And if we win, they’ll love it. It’s the same thing I said when I took Josh Allen. If I’m wrong, the moving company will be at my house."
Beane added that he's not going to regret not hiring someone to appease what those please people outside of the organization. Especially, he says, if he believed in something different.
"If I’m wrong, I’ll f****** take my job and f****** go home," he said. "I don’t want to be wrong — see him go somewhere else — when my gut told me it was Joe Brady. I’m never going to do that.
"I would love for everyone to cheer every move, but it’s not about winning the press conference. It’s about winning games over there."
Since Brady officially started as head coach last week, the Bills have wasted no time in filling out his coaching staff with promising hires. From Pete Carmichael Jr. as offensive coordinator to Jim Leonhard as defensive coordinator, it seems Buffalo wants to surround Brady with the best options possible as he starts his work towards winning the franchise's first Super Bowl.
