Buffalo Bills Connected to Potential Trade Sending Keon Coleman Out cover image

The Buffalo Bills could consider trading Keon Coleman during the NFL offseason.

When the Buffalo Bills selected wide receiver Keon Coleman with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they thought they were getting a potential No. 1 target for superstar quarterback Josh Allen.

Throughout his first two NFL seasons, Coleman has been unable to show development towards being that kind of player.

During the 2025 campaign, Coleman was a healthy scratch in multiple games. He has seemingly not taken his job seriously in the NFL. That has led to a lot of frustration from the Bills with their young wide receiver.

Coleman could end up being a trade candidate during the offseason. If Buffalo chooses to cut its losses and move on in a different direction, there would likely be a good number of teams with interest in trading for Coleman and taking a flier on him.

Keeping that in mind, ESPN's Bill Barnwell has suggested a potential trade between the Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars that would see Coleman exit Buffalo.

In his suggestion, the Bills would trade Coleman and a 2026 first-round pick in exchange for Brian Thomas Jr. and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

"Thomas would immediately step in as Josh Allen's No. 1 receiver. For a team that's $10 million over the projected cap before making adjustments this offseason, Thomas' contract is a bargain for the next few years," Barnwell wrote.

"He'll make $2.1 million in 2026 and $2.8 million in 2027 before a potential fifth-year option in 2028, affording the Bills multiple seasons of cost control. Even if Thomas only settles in somewhere between his 2024 and 2025 form, he would offer significant surplus value."

Thomas is coming off of a 2025 season with the Jaguars that saw him play in 14 games. He caught 48 passes for 707 yards and two touchdowns. As a rookie in 2024, he caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns in 17 games.

On the other hand, Coleman has racked up 67 receptions for 960 yards and eight touchdowns in his first two seasons. He has shown flashes of the potential that made him such a high pick in the 2024 draft, but hasn't been able to show consistency.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Buffalo as the offseason gets underway. The Bills aren't far from being a Super Bowl team and it's time to be aggressive in pursuing a championship while the window is still open.
