After Sean McDermott was fired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills, thousands of Bills fans are demanding he be reinstated as head coach.

It appears that the firing of head coach Sean McDermott has it some Buffalo Bills fans harder than others. For thousands, they want to show just how upset they are about it.

A Change.org petition has been started demanding the Bills "reinstate" McDermott as coach. The petition was started by Maria Maisonet earlier this week, and has since gained over 37,000 signatures.

Maisonet writes that "the recent decision to fire Sean McDermott has left me and countless others heartbroken and baffled."

"Sean McDermott has not only been a strategic mastermind behind our team's recent successes, but he has also been an inspiring leader with a deep commitment to the Buffalo community," she said.

Calling the decision to fire the nine-year head coach a "step backward", Maisonet believes that the move also negates the progress the organization made under his leadership.

Since joining Buffalo in 2017, McDermott had a regular season record of 98-50. His .662 winning percentage is the best in franchise history, and the 15th-highest all-time.

The playoffs were a bit of a different story. McDermott went 8-8, reaching the AFC Championship Game twice. However, he failed to make it any further. In fact, he led the Bills to six straight years with a playoff win, something only three other teams had ever done.

The one big difference was that Buffalo is only one of those four teams---Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs---to not win a Super Bowl, let alone play in one.

The yearly playoff disappointments ultimately lead to the decision to fire McDermott after nine seasons.

That said, Maisonet and thousands of other fans feel that McDermott should still have the chance to be the coach that brings Buffalo its first Lombardi Trophy.

"Firing Coach McDermott in a knee-jerk reaction, without any gratitude for what he has done for our team, is shameful," Bills fan Cat Cumberland commented.

"It is critical to make our voices heard to convince the Buffalo Bills management to reconsider and reinstate Sean McDermott as the head coach," she said.
