As training camp nears, Buffalo faces a critical decision regarding O’Cyrus Torrence. Both sides seek a long-term extension to secure the interior of the Bills' rebuilt roster.
The Buffalo Bills spent the early part of the offseason trying to give new head coach Joe Brady enough talent to make a run for the Super Bowl this season, but a contract extension that was put on the back burner is coming into focus before training camp.
The Bills traded for star wide receiver DJ Moore and added defensive end Bradley Chubb, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and safety Geno Stone.
Those additions should help the Bills better compete for the AFC East after seeing the New England Patriots win the division in 2025.
Per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN, the Bills have a contract situation that they may need to deal with before the regular season. 2023 second-round pick O'Cyrus Torrence is eligible for a contract extension, and Buffalo and the offensive guard are interested in getting a new deal done.
"There has been interest from both sides in keeping the Bills' starting right guard for the past three seasons around for years to come," Getzenberg wrote. "Unlike last year, when Buffalo addressed a variety of contract extensions in the spring, it prioritized deals impacting this upcoming season.
"Torrence was present for all of the offseason workouts open to the media and, as far back as January, expressed his understanding of the business side of the league. General manager Brandon Beane has a history of getting extensions done just before or early in the season."
As noted, Torrence has been a team player this offseason, opting to attend voluntary workouts while not having a new deal in place. One would expect Torrence to show up for training camp, though he'd risk a lot if he suffered an injury during the preseason.
Given what's at stake for Torrence, this situation should be monitored before training camp starts at the end of July.
One thing to note here, the Bills did add some insurance at offensive guard during the draft, taking Ar'maj Reed-Adams out of Texas A&M in the seventh round.
Per Pro Football Focus, Torrence ranked 44th out of 81 guards during the 2025 season. Torrence, 26, has appeared in 51 games and started 50.
