Facing offensive line departures, the Buffalo Bills have met with a proven Super Bowl winner. Can Austin Corbett fill the crucial void?
Last week, the Buffalo Bills lost offensive lineman Ryan Van Demark after the 27-year-old signed an offer sheet with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bills had five days to match the one-year, $4.2 million contract Van Demark signed, but ultimately chose not to. In addition to Van Demark, Buffalo also lost guard David Edwards to the New Orleans Saints.
While not matching Van Demark's offer sheet cleared $3.5 million in salary cap space, the Bills now find themselves with a big hole on the offensive line to fill.
On Monday, the team started the process of potentially filling that hole.
According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson and the NFL transaction wire, the Bills hosted free agent offensive lineman Austin Corbett for a visit.
Corbett was a second-round pick (33rd overall) of the Cleveland Browns in 2018. A year later, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams for a fifth-round pick after three games.
With the Rams, Corbett quickly became the team's starting right guard. From 2020-2021, he started every game for the Rams, including the team's Super Bowl 56 victory over Cincinnati.
After spending two-and-a-half years with Los Angeles, Corebett signed a three-year, $26.25 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. He would start all 17 games in 2022, but injuries limited him to just nine games combined in 2023 and 2024.
He returned to Carolina on a one-year deal in 2025, playing in 13 games and starting 11 of them.
Now, as a free agent, the 30-year-old Corbett is looking to continue a career that he hopes is on the rebound. For Buffalo, there's a hope that they can find another versatile, cost-effective replacement, similar to when they signed players like Edwards and the recently re-signed Connor McGovern years ago.
As of publishing, the team hasn't made an official comment on Corbett's visit. Nor has there been any inclination that an agreement between the two parties is close.
