Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are heading into the NFL offseason with major disappointment once again.
Unfortunately, after entering the 2025 season with high expectations of making a Super Bowl run, the Bills came up short in the playoffs again. They were able to make it to the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs, but were eliminated by the Denver Broncos.
At this point, Buffalo will need to get very aggressive to pursue a championship. With Allen leading the way, the Bills have a wide open Super Bowl window. They simply cannot afford to hold anything back before that window slams shut.
Heading into free agency and NFL Draft season, there is one very clear need for Buffalo to address. Allen needs more offensive weapons to throw to.
Keeping that in mind, a new suggestion has been made for the Bills.
Fox Sports believes that Buffalo should look to sign Indianapolis Colts impending free agent wide receiver Alec Pierce in free agency. Pierce is coming off of a nice season with the Colts and would add dynamic playmaking ability, especially down the field, to the Bills' offense.
"Pierce, 25, is arguably the NFL's best deep-threat receiver, leading the league in yards per catch in each of the last two seasons. He topped 1,000 receiving yards in 2025, and four touchdowns in the last three games helped his market a bit," Greg Auman of Fox Sports wrote.
"The Colts have a handful of top free agents and won't be able to keep them all. Pierce is likely to command $20 million a year as an underrated player who could be utilized more — Ja'Marr Chase had 101 more targets in 2025 than Pierce did, but only 409 more yards than the Colts wide receiver."
During the 2025 NFL season with Indianapolis, Pierce played in 15 games. He caught 47 passes for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 21.3 yards per reception. That is the kind of playmaker Buffalo should look to add.
Pierce is just 25 years old. He's just starting to scratch the surface of his potential.
If the Bills are able to sign him, Pierce would be a huge impact player in 2026 and beyond. Don't be surprised if Buffalo is one of the teams that registers interest in him when free agency opens up.
