The Buffalo Bills are still chasing down their first Super Bowl, and one NFL writer believes they could get their by trading for a future Hall of Fame edge rusher.
Could one of the best edge rushers in NFL history eventually become a member of the Buffalo Bills?
Recently, it was reported that the Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett agreed to a revision of some language in his contract. This change sees his option bonuses for the next three seasons (2026, 2027, and 2028) triggered a week before the start of the regular season.
Previously, they were set to trigger by the 15th day of each new league year. But with this change, it opens the door up to more possibilities for the Browns, especially when it comes to potential trades.
Should it come to that—remember, Garrett requested a trade out of Cleveland in February 2025 before ultimately signing a four-year extension—there are plenty of teams that could be suitors for the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. And according to at least one NFL writer, the Bills could be one of the best fits for the future Hall of Famer.
Taking a look at potential landing spots for Garret, CBS Sports' John Breech mentions Buffalo as being a possible destination.
His reasoning includes much of what you'd expect, centered on the fact that they have Josh Allen. He says that Garrett could be the player who would push them over the top on their quest to win the franchise's first Super Bowl. He also knows that the team hasn't been afraid to make a big move in the past, citing the signing of Von Miller back in 2022.
"They've already added Bradley Chubb this offseason, and pairing him with Garrett would instantly elevate the defense from average to great," Breech said.
What Would It Take To Trade For Myles Garret?
While the idea of bringing Garrett to the Bills is fun to think about, actually pulling it off would be another story.
Garret is a first-ballot Hall of Fame player when his time comes. He holds the NFL single-season sack record and is one of the most dominant edge rushers of all time. To bring him to Buffalo would cost a lot.
You're looking at a deal that involves no less than two first-round picks and other early-round selections or players. In reality, it's probably more than that, though.
The Browns have introduced a new rule that would allow draft picks to be traded up to five years in advance. Should that be passed, you could be looking at a deal that possibly sees even four firsts go, should a team be desperate enough.
Right now, though, everything is speculation as Cleveland has given no hints towards wanting to make a deal. Still, it's always fun to think about.
