Fresh off a Super Bowl projection, Brandon Beane looks to secure Josh Allen’s long-term future by snagging an explosive Alabama playmaker to bolster Buffalo’s aging receiving corps.
The dust has barely settled on the 2026 NFL Draft and the new class of rookies have yet to take a single snap, but that doesn't mean you can't look into the future.
ESPN's Jordan Reid has released his first 2027 Mock Draft, and he has the Buffalo Bills selecting 31st overall. That means, hypothetically, he has the Bills making it to the Super Bowl, but losing to the Los Angeles Rams.
Potential heartbreak aside, Reid has the Bills targeting a popular position that fans have continued to want to see addressed for years by general manager Brandon Beane.
In his mock, Buffalo selects Alabama junior wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams in the first.
Reid starts by speaking on Coleman-Williams' strong freshman season with the Crimson Tide. In 2024, he had 48 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns, leading Alabama in both categories.
He followed that up with a 49-catch season but only had 689 yards and four touchdowns. He also struggled with drops, something Reid made note of. Still, there is potential there for Coleman-Williams to be a number one receiver at the next level.
"The talent is clear, and many are expecting a bounce-back year," Reid writes. "He's a three-level threat with excellent vertical speed to stack defenders. Coleman-Williams also has unique body control to put his frame into positions to catch passes outside of the strike zone.
"If he can recapture his freshman form, he could be that big-time receiver the Bills desperately need."
Seeing Buffalo draft a first-round wide receiver might be a surprise to some after the team drafted Skyler Bell in the fourth round this year. Bell comes in with high expectations despite being taken in the middle of the draft.
The Bills also traded for DJ Moore to be their number one receiver for the next few years. But at 29 years old, Beane and the organization need to be prepared for the future after Moore. Williams is only going to be 20 when he enters the league, meaning, should he live up to the potential, the Bills could have a new number one receiver for a decade or more.
