The Buffalo Bills appear set to make a major improvement to their wide receiver room as DJ Moore is expected to come over in a trade with Chicago.

UPDATE: According to Adam Schefter, the Buffalo Bills have traded for DJ Moore and a 2026 5th-round pick in exchange for a 2026 2nd-round pick.

The original story continues below.

The Buffalo Bills have added to the wide receiver room. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bills are finalizing a trade to acquire wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears.

Schefter reports that compensation on the deal is "still being discussed" and that "both sides are pushing to make it happen".

Also, the trade cannot be completed until the start of the new league year on March 11.

A first-round pick in 2018, Moore spent his first five seasons with the Carolina Panthers. In 2023, he was traded to the Chicago Bears, where he played in every regular-season game.

Over his career, Moore has 8,213 yards and 41 touchdowns. He's only made the playoffs once—last season with Chicago—, catching 11 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns in two games.

Moore comes over already having a relationship with new Bills head coach Joe Brady. For two seasons from 2020 to 2021, Brady was the offensive coordinator in Carolina.

In those two seasons with Brady running the offense, Moore had 159 catches for 2,350 yards and eight touchdowns. His 1,193 yards in 2020 and 93 catches in 2021 were the most he had as a Panther.

The addition of Moore gives the Bills a true outside receiver that they have been lacking since trading Stefon Diggs two years ago. It also adds someone to the roster who could mentor Keon Coleman, showing him what's needed to be a successful receiver in the NFL.

Moore comes to Buffalo with four years remaining on his contract and a cap hit of $24.5 million in each year. Whether the Bills keep the contract as acquired or adjust it to lower the hit remains to be seen.

As of writing, Buffalo is still over the $301 million salary cap before the start of the new league year. That means, no matter what, General Manager Brandon Beane still has work to do with the roster. But, for now, at least one issue has been addressed.
