General manager Brandon Beane swaps the former Georgia standout for draft capital, clearing cap space and finalizing the roster depth behind Connor McGovern before the league deadline.
The Buffalo Bills are trading center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger to the Indianapolis Colts.
Early Sunday morning, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Bills are sending Van Pran-Granger to the Colts. The move comes just hours before the regular-season cut deadline of 6pm ET.
Also heading to Indianapolis as part of the deal is a 2027 7th-round draft pick. In return, the Bills will receive a 2027 6th-round draft pick.
"Trade! The Bills are sending C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger to the Colts, per source," Pelissero said just after 9am ET.
What Happened In Buffalo?
Van Pran-Granger leaves Buffalo after spending just two seasons with the organization. A 5th-round pick in 2024, Van Pran-Granger was drafted with the plan of making him either the backup center or the long-term starter should Connor McGovern have left.
In 2025, he played in 15 games and started one.
With McGovern re-signing this past March, the 24-year-old's path with the team was set to be the backup. But when Buffalo signed veteran Lloyd Cushenberry in free agency, there was clearly a competition for the role.
With McGovern out due to injury during the preseason, it was Cushenberry who started Buffalo's preseason games. It seemed to be the writing on the wall for the former Georgia Bulldog.
Rather than release him outright, however, general manager Brandon Beane found a trade partner for a pick swap deal.
With a new start in Indianapolis, Van Pran-Granger has a clearer path to becoming the backup center for the Colts. Down the line, there may even be an opportunity to move into a starting role.
Van Pran-Granger is in the third year of his rookie contract. This season he's owed $1.075 million, followed by $1.19 million in 2027. By trading him, the Bills clear $1.075 million in cap space and carry a dead cap hit of just $88,813 this season and next
For the Bills, they are clearly content with McGovern and Cushenberry as their two centers heading into the regular season.
