Buffalo moves down slightly in the 2026 NFL Draft, acquiring valuable extra picks from Houston and New England in a savvy strategic maneuver by general manager Brandon Beane.

With rumors and speculation that the Buffalo Bills could trade out of the first round, it actually turned out that where there's smoke, there's fire. Just before they were set to be on the clock in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Bills made a trade with the Houston Texans.

The Bills traded pick No. 26 along with pick No. 91 to the Texans for picks No. 28, No. 69, and No. 167.

UPDATE: The Bills ended Thursday without making a pick in the first round, but they did make another trade with the Tennessee Titans. The original story continues below.

The move trades away Buffalo's late third-round pick, but gives them an earlier third and another fifth round selection. Pending any other moves, it gives the Bills eight picks in this year's draft.

But that wasn't all for the Bills. As they were on the clock with the 28th pick, they made another trade with the New England Patriots to move back from No. 28 to No. 31. With that deal, they also picked up pick No. 125.

As of publishing, Buffalo's draft picks are now:

Round 1: No. 31 - From New England

Round 3: No. 69 - From Houston

Round 4: No. 125 - From New England

Round 4: No. 126

Round 5: No. 165 - From Bears

Round 5: No. 167

Round 5: No. 168

Round 6: No. 182 - From Jets through Browns and Jaguars and Raiders

Round 7: No. 220 - From Jets

Now the Bills have work to do to fill a number of wholes along the roster in order to remain Super Bowl contenders. But now, they have more ammunition in the chamber to play with.
