D.J. Moore spoke about the Chicago Bears trading him to the Buffalo Bills.
The Chicago Bears signed WR D.J. Moore to a four-year, $110 million extension in 2024. Most people in the NFL thought Moore would spend the rest of his career in Chicago.
However, the Bears traded the veteran to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, a move Moore wasn't surprised by.
"I'm excited," Moore said. "I'm excited for the new challenge and a new journey. I think my time in Chicago, it ran its course and it ended on a great note with it being a great season in how it ended. Now it's time to do that here."
Moore had 50 catches last season for 682 yards and six touchdowns with the Bears, who won the NFC North and beat the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. The former Carolina Panthers WR finished his Chicago career with 244 catches for 3,012 yards and 20 TD catches.
Like the Bears, the Bills lost in the Divisional Round of the 2026 playoffs. Buffalo lost to the Denver Broncos in Denver. The Bills have yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Josh Allen era.
"It's hard to win in this league. You should appreciate it, celebrate it," Moore said. "But the losses turn into lessons. You learn from your losses, get better as a player and you just go from there each and every time."
Moore has played for the Panthers and Bears. He enters next season with 608 receptions for 8,213 yards and 41 TD and is looking forward to playing with Allen, the 2024 MVP.
"He's a field general," Moore said about Allen. "You see him out there trying to conduct things and the way he does it, is successful and I just want to be a part of that."
Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The one-time MVP had right foot surgery after the season ended. The surgery was done on a broken bone in his foot.
Moore and Allen will be coached by Joe Brady next season. Brady replaces Sean McDermott, who was fired after the Broncos game.
