Buffalo's shorthanded roster must navigate a critical road matchup in Las Vegas as lingering injuries sideline key stars, forcing depth players to step up before the bye week.
If the Buffalo Bills are going to move to 5-1 and head into the bye week on a winning note, they're going to have to do it without two of their biggest playmakers.
The team has announced that both wide receiver DJ Moore and defensive lineman Ed Oliver will miss Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. It marks the second week in a row that the two star players will sit.
Also inactive for the Bills are outside linebacker Mike Dannas, guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and tackle Jude Bowry.
Moore and Oliver not playing is no surprise. With the bye week next week, it gives two key players extra time to rest ahead of what will be the hardest stretch of the season in about a month.
Three other players who were questionable---cornerback Dee Alford (ankle), wide receiver Joshua Palmer (shoulder), and defensive lineman T.J. Sanders (shoulder)---are active and will play in Las Vegas.
With Moore out, rookie receiver Skyler Bell is dressed for the second game of his career. Head coach Joe Brady has said that Bell has taken the snaps in place of Moore. If that translates to the game, Bell could be in line for the first receptions of his young career.
Another promising rookie who is playing again is Jalon Kilgore. Like Bell, Kilgore made his debut last week and is expected to play a larger role on defense as the season progresses.
It's also important to note that Buffalo didn't make a single practice squad elevation for this week's game. The team has elevated someone for each of the first five weeks, but clearly felt that they were in good enough shape on Sunday that an elevation wasn't necessary.

The Bills and Raiders kick off at 4:25pm ET on CBS Sports. Bills Roundtable will have full coverage during and after the game.
