It's been two days since the Buffalo Bills surprisingly fired Sean McDermott as head coach after nine seasons, and they're wasting no time in their search for the team's next head man.
After it being quiet for the first 36-48 hours, Wednesday morning saw a number of candidates being revealed for the job.
It started with former Bills interim head coach and Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn being reported as the first name to be interviewed. Lynn went 33-31 in four seasons with the Chargers, including a 12-4 season that saw Los Angeles make it to the AFC Divisional round before losing to New England.
After Lynn, reports surfaced that team requested an interview with former offensive coordinator and New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll. Daboll was Buffalo's offensive coordinator from 2018-2021, and is known to have a strong relationship with Josh Allen.
Speaking of offensive coordinators, the Bills will also interview current offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski for the position. Brady has been Buffalo's offensive coordinator for the past two-and-a-half seasons while Udinski just completed his first season as a coordinator with Jacksonville.
The last known name, as of writing, is Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The 59-year-old Anarumo hasn't been a head coach before but has been a coordinator for eight years with the Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, and Miami Dolphins.
As far as when the interviews will take place, NFL Insider Dianna Russini reports that Daboll and Anarumo will be the first two interview for the job.
While those are the five names currently known to be interviewing for the position, there are other names that the Bills have been rumored to be interested in. Two names has been Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. Neither of those candidates, however, can interview until their team has been eliminated from the playoffs.
Should that happen this weekend, it's possible that official word comes out shortly thereafter. That said, should both make it to the Super Bowl, they wouldn't be able to interview until February 9 at the earliest. By then, though, the Bills might have already decided to move in a different direction.
