A former All Pro who recently signed with the Buffalo Bills is set to make his debut this week.
The Bills announced on Saturday afternoon that defensive end Matthew Judon is being elevated to the 53-man roster for the team's season finale against the New York Jets. His elevation comes exactly two weeks after he signed with the team's practice squad.
A 10-year veteran out of Grand Valley St., Judon joined the Bills after being granted his release from the Miami Dolphins in December. He had signed with the Dolphins in the offseason, but recorded just 1`9 tackles, one tackle for loss, and zero sacks in 13 games.
Judon's best seasons came from 2019 to 2022 with the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots. During that time, he tallied 43.5 sacks, including a 15.5 sack campaign in 2022 with the Patriots. In 2023, Judon suffered a torn bicep and played in just four games. That following offseason, he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons
With Judon elevated, it could be a sign that the team plans to keep Joey Bosa off the field for the final regular season game. Bosa was listed as questionable for Sunday's game with a hamstring injury after missing two days of practice and being limited on Friday.
For Judon, this weekend comes at a time where he will look to show that he still has something left in the tank. The Bills have struggled to bring down the quarterback this year, and, with the playoffs coming up, they will need all the help they can get against the likes of Drake Maye, Bo Nix, Trevor Lawrence and the other quarterbacks in the AFC.
If the 33-year-old can find a way to turn back the clock, he could provide a major boost to a team looking to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 season.
The Bills and Jets are scheduled to kick off at 4:25PM ET on Sunday afternoon. The Bills currently hold the seventh seed in the AFC, but could move as high as fifth with a win and some help.
On Friday, head coach Sean McDermott said that quarterback Josh Allen was "good to go". However, he wouldn't commit to just how much Allen would play as he continues to deal with a foot injury.
