After being fired in January, the next move in football for former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott has been announced.

When the Buffalo Bills fired Sean McDermott in January, it came as a shock to some and was understandable to others.

After nine years with the Bills, McDermott had once again led the team to become Super Bowl contenders. Unfortunately, like many seasons before last, the team didn't get to the Super Bowl. Rather, they lost, again, in a heartbreaking fashion.

The team felt a change was needed, relieving McDermott of his head coaching duties just two days after the AFC Divisional loss to the Denver Broncos.

Since then, McDermott has been quiet, moving along with his life. What was known was the fact that he wasn't planning on coaching this season, instead choosing to take a year off to refocus before looking to get back into the league.

But now, in a recent piece from The Athletic, we know when football fans next get to see McDermott and what his next role will be.

McDermott has been spending more time with family, including taking his kids to and from school and watching his daughter's softball games. But football is still a big part of his life, and he won't be away for too long.

Next week is the 2026 NFL Draft from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Thousands of fans and media members will be on hand to take in the event and see what prospects end up drafted. McDermott will be one of those people.

The 52-year-old will be making "a handful" of media appearances throughout the week as a guest analyst. What networks it'll be with and what days he'll appear weren't revealed, but it'll be interesting to hear the insight of a coach who, historically, has been open to giving more information than not when speaking with the media.

Now, for at least a few days, he becomes media. Whether that turns into more appearances during his year off remains to be seen, but it's certainly going to be an interesting watch for Bills fans.
