Former Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs has seen one potential NFL opportunity seemingly come to an end.
Not long ago, the Buffalo Bills' offense featured wide receiver Stefon Diggs as its No. 1 option. He was a legitimate star during his time with the team.
Last season, Diggs overcame a torn ACL in 2024 to help lead the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl. He came up just short of a ring, but was able to prove that he's still capable of making an impact.
At this point in time, no NFL team has come in and signed Diggs. The veteran wideout remains a free agent. Quite a few teams have been connected as potential suitors for him.
Throughout much of the offseason, Diggs has been steadily connected to the Patriots. It would not have been surprising to see the two sides reunite. However, that door seems to have closed.
New England head coach Mike Vrabel spoke out specifically about Diggs. His comments made it clear that the Patriots aren't interested in adding a wide receiver right now after signing Romeo Doubs in free agency and trading for A.J. Brown.
"I wouldn't say anything is off the table," Vrabel said. "We would want to add anybody that could help us. I'm not gonna give a percentage on it, but I think we're happy with where we're at right now with the numbers and the people in the receiver room."
Could the Buffalo Bills Consider a Reunion with Stefon Diggs?
There have been rumblings this offseason about the Bills potentially signing Diggs. Could that move make more sense after the latest comments from the Patriots?
During the 2025 NFL season with New England, Diggs played in all 17 games. He caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.
Right now, Buffalo has a solid wide receiver room. D.J. Moore is the clear-cut No. 1 option after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears. Behind him, the Bills have Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, and Skyler Bell on the roster.
All of those wide receivers are capable of playing a role this season. That being said, they are not as proven as Diggs. He also has previous chemistry with superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
While it is unlikely that Buffalo will bring Diggs back, it can't be counted out entirely.
Fans should not expect to see a reunion take place. But, if the Bills decide to be aggressive and go further all-in on pursuing a Super Bowl win, they could still consider the option.
