How did Josh Allen play in Week 5?
NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report gave Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen a B QB grade for his performance in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Allen had 210 passing yards, one passing touchdown, one interception, 121 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown against the Rams in Los Angeles on Monday Night Football.
The Bills beat the Rams in overtime by a final score of 37-34. Allen and Co. are now 4-1. They are in first place in the AFC East.
Allen totaled 107 scramble yards against the Rams, the second-most in a game in his career and the most since his rookie season. He's the only player with multiple games with 100+ scramble yards since 2018.
In a game in which the Bills committed 13 penalties, gave up 40 completions, turned the ball over twice, including once in overtime, stunk on third downs on offense, struggled on third downs on defense and couldn't get their receivers or tight ends involved in the slightest, having Allen's good was pretty much all the Bills had.
Before Monday's game, Allen was 0-7 in overtime, including three season-ending playoff losses despite him averaging 292 passing yards, 75 rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns per game.
Against the Rams, Allen came through with his usual late-game theatrics. Across the fourth quarter and overtime, Allen was 5-for-5 passing with 121 yards and ran six times for 91 yards and a touchdown. He also completed a two-point conversion attempt.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Allen is off to a stellar start this season. He has 1,249 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, 239 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. The future Hall of Famer leads the NFL in rushing touchdowns, which is incredible considering he's a quarterback.
If Allen keeps playing like this, he could win his second MVP. The 30-year-old won MVP in 2024.
The Bills beat the Houston Texans in Week 1, the Detroit Lions in Week 2 and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3 before losing to the New England Patriots in Week 4. They face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6.
The Bills have made the AFC Championship Game twice with Allen leading the way. Buffalo lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs both times.
The Chiefs are 4-0 this season, with Mahomes looking like his old self after suffering a major knee injury in 2025. It would certainly be fun to see Allen face Mahomes in the playoffs again this season.
