NBA Champion Throws Shade Toward Bills QB Josh Allen cover image

In a world where Josh Allen has won the hearts over football fans around the world, one NBA veteran isn’t buying the hype.

Draymond Green, a four-time NBA Champion and Defensive Player of the Year has gone viral due to his opinion on the 2024 MVP.

Green has his own football show called Why Is Draymond Green Talking About Football? with insider Jordan Schultz and as the both went over the NFL trends, Green made his opinions abundantly clear about Allen.

"Josh Allen is a damn good quarterback," Green said. "But just because he's a damn good quarterback, don't make you the guy. He's never gonna get it done when it matters the most. I don't care how Herculean of a comeback effort you have at home in Week 1, he's never gonna be the guy that's gonna come out and win a championship and be the guy when it matters the most. He's not the guy!"

As someone who’s never been shy to express his opinion to get a rise out of the public, Green clearly knew what he was doing.

Allen is the most talked about athlete in the sport, especially with his marriage with actress Hailie Steinfeld. So for Green, the message was clear – say something controversial about a high-profile player, and watch the public lose their collective minds.

Mission accomplished.

Because now his comments are everywhere.

Since the 2020 season, Allen had four consecutive seasons where he threw for over 4,000 yards, and in six of his seven seasons, he rushed for over 500 yards.

His ability to run the ball has truly separated himself from the pack. Due to his 6-foot-5, 230 pound frame, he’s able to absorb contact like no other quarterback can, adding a new wrinkle. But sometimes due to his erratic style of play, Allen can give off the vibe where he can make bad decisions.

Which adds credence to Green’s comments.

Allen hasn’t been able to make a Super Bowl appearance in his eight year career, largely due to the Kansas City Chiefs dominating the AFC.

In the past seven seasons, the Chiefs have made it to the AFC Championship, overtaking the Bills twice, and a two times in the Divisional Round.

It’s clear that Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs has continuously had Allen’s number, which is why Green believes Allen “isn’t the guy.”

Offense isn’t the problem for the Bills, and this season may be a big concern for Buffalo due to its defensive issues.

If the Bills have trouble finding their way to the Super Bowl, it definitely won’t be because of Allen. He’s the driving force of the team, and was the driving force to help the Week 1 comeback.

One thing’s for sure though, because of how impactful Green’s comments can be, Allen has had to have heard it.
