The Buffalo Bills may still be behind the Chiefs in the AFC race.

The Buffalo Bills were able to move to 5-1 on the new NFL season, taking down the Las Vegas Raiders on the road this week.

Buffalo has gotten off to a strong start this year, other than one poor performance against the rival New England Patriots. The Bills have been led by a dominant offensive attack, with star quarterback Josh Allen playing at a very high level.

Allen's play this year could help earn him another MVP award, but the star is more focused on team success. Buffalo has been a top contender in the AFC for years, but the team has fallen short in the playoffs every season.

This year could be different with the squad being led by new head coach Joe Brady in his first season. Brady has brought new energy to the Bills as the team's head coach, giving more thought to a different outcome in the playoffs.

But in order for Buffalo to get over the hump this season, they will have to take down a familiar foe, the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City has bounced back fully this year after missing the playoffs a year ago, and they remain the biggest threat to the Bills.

So far this season, the Chiefs are 5-0, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes looking like his old self following an injury last year. The Bills and Chiefs have met up multiple times in the playoffs, with Kansas City taking the wins.

And NFL analyst Marcus Spears still gives the edge to the Chiefs in a potential matchup with the Bills. Spears discussed the two sides while appearing on The Rich Eisen Show after Week 6.

The biggest difference between the Chiefs and Bills is likely the play of the defense, with Kansas City's unit being stronger. The Bills defensive problems have been one of the larger issues for this team this year, and Buffalo will have to correct this going forward.

Offensively, the two teams may be equal, with a slight edge going to the Bills. But in the playoffs, defense tends to win games.

The Bills and Chiefs will meet up later in the season, with Buffalo hosting Kansas City on Thanksgiving Night. This game could tell everyone a lot about where the Bills are, and how they stack up against their rivals.

But for now, Buffalo will take things one game at a time, trying to stack wins in the best way possible. The Bills are heading into a bye week, before a crucial game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8.
