NFL analyst Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report believes "expectations" will be the main obstacle facing Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen next season.
There is a lot of pressure on Allen to lead the Bills to the Super Bowl next season.
"The front office and fan base have clearly run out of patience, and Allen is now 30," Gagnon wrote. "In his ninth season, he is expected to be an MVP frontrunner with a good-not-amazing supporting cast while finally leading the Bills to a Super Bowl in a brand-new stadium. It is—quite frankly—a lot."
In Year 1 of the Joe Brady era, the Bills will face the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Dolphins and Jets.
Buffalo went 12-5 last season and lost to the Broncos in the Divisional Round of the 2026 playoffs. Sean McDermott was fired as head coach and Brady was promoted to head coach.
The Bills had a great offseason. The front office acquired D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears and signed Bradley Chubb and C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency.
The Bills have yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Allen era. That has to change soon. Otherwise, Allen will never be considered an all-time great.
The 2024 MVP, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The Pro Bowler enters next season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns.
"Still respecting the past and what's been here the last 10 years and not shying away from that, but also having his own twist on it," Allen said after Brady was named HC. "It's been really good to see him embrace the role and step into it. The way that he talks to the guys, you can tell he's very well respected with everybody in that locker room, and it's only going to continue to grow in my opinion."
It will be fascinating to see if Allen and the Bills can reach the promised land next season. Time is running out on Allen to win a championship. After all, he's not getting any younger.
