One NFL analyst wishes the Buffalo Bills had added George Pickens.
George Pickens signed a one-year, $27.3 million franchise tag with the Dallas Cowboys.
If NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report had his way, Pickens would have signed a four-year, $129 million contract with the Buffalo Bills to play with Josh Allen.
"Although he was ultimately franchise tagged by the Dallas Cowboys, it would have been a bit more exciting to see the blossoming superstar sign a megadeal with a top Super Bowl contender that boasts arguably the league's best quarterback: the Buffalo Bills," Kay wrote.
Pickens was a star for the Cowboys last season. He had 93 receptions for 1,429 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. The Georgia product made his first Pro Bowl team.
"He would have immediately become the top target on a Bills squad that has lacked a true No. 1 option in the receiving corps since the departure of Stefon Diggs during the 2023 offseason," Kay wrote. "Despite the lack of elite pass-catchers on the roster, Buffalo still managed to win 25 games over the past two seasons—tying the Philadelphia Eagles for most in the league during that span—due in no small part to some immense contributions from Josh Allen."
It would have been fun to watch Pickens in Joe Brady's offense and catch passes from Allen. Instead, we have to watch Pickens play for the Cowboys again.
The 2024 MVP, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The future Hall of Famer enters next season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns, which are outstanding numbers, but he's never been to the Super Bowl.
Buffalo lost to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round last season. D.J. Moore was traded by the Chicago Bears to the Bills this offseason.
"I've said this 100 times, and you're gonna hear me another 100 times saying it. I want Josh Allen to get everything he deserves in this life, in this career. He puts so much into this game, and that all I want is for him to be holding what he deserves," Brady said.
Pickens to the Bills won't happen. However, Buffalo can still trade for Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown.
