The NFL announced major news about Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen.
Buffalo Bills superstar QB Josh Allen was in the news on Wednesday.
Don't worry Bills fans, it was for a good reason.
Allen was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2. The future Hall of Famer won his 19th career AFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
The Bills beat the Detroit Lions to open Highmark Stadium in Week 2, and once again, Allen played like the best player in the NFL. The 2024 MVP went 20/31 through the air for 248 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
Allen also carried the ball 14 times for 69 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
The Bills are 2-0 behind Allen's stellar start to the season. Allen has 582 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, 92 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns through two games.
More importantly, Allen has zero interceptions.
Allen and the Bills are averaging 38.5 points through their first two games. The quarterback has accounted for 90 percent of the team’s touchdowns and 79 percent of their yardage.
The Bills are only the third team in NFL history to start 2-0 despite giving up 30-plus points in each game. That's how special Allen and the offense have been through two games.
Against the Lions, Allen tallied his fourth career game with three-plus passing touchdowns and two-plus rushing touchdowns in a game. Kordell Stewart (two) is the only other player to ever tally multiple such games in NFL history.
Allen also became the second player in NFL history to account for nine-plus total touchdowns and four-plus rushing touchdowns over a span of five days. Allen joined Ernie Nevers from November 24-28, 1929, when he ran for nine touchdowns and scored all 59 of the Cardinals' points in two wins (19-0 & 40-6).
One of the greatest QBs of all time, Allen is the first player with five-plus passing touchdowns and three-plus rushing touchdowns through two games of a season in NFL history. He could very well win his second MVP this season.
However, Allen doesn't care about that. He wants to bring Buffalo its first ever Super Bowl.
Allen needs to win at least one Super Bowl. The Bills have reached the AFC Championship Game twice in the Allen era. Buffalo lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs both times.
It will be fascinating to see if Allen and the Bills can reach the promised land this season. Time is running out for Allen to win a championship.
After all, he's not getting any younger and there is so much young talent in today's NFL.
