Could Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen win his second MVP this season?
If he plays as he did in Week 1 every week, yes.
In the Bills' Week 1 win against the Houston Texans, Allen finished with 334 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 23 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Houston has arguably the best defense in the NFL and Allen still put up four touchdowns. That's why NFL.com is already pushing the Allen MVP hype train.
"That's a great start to his annual MVP push," Nick Shook of NFL.com wrote.
Allen threw the game-winning touchdown to Josh Palmer against the Texans.
Surprisingly, Allen executed the play despite it not being by design.
"You want the absolute truth?" Allen said during a postgame interview with CBS Sports' Evan Washburn. "We call this a horseshoe. That wasn't where the ball was supposed to go. We have never once repped the ball going there. I just felt those safeties started cheating toward DJ (Moore) a little bit. Josh ran a great route. I put in on a line for him and he did the rest."
A future first-ballot Hall of Famer, Allen had 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. Those are incredible numbers.
Unfortunately, the Bills lost to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round. Buffalo still hasn't reached the Super Bowl in the Allen era.
It will be intriguing to see if Allen and the Bills can reach the promised land this season. Time is running out for Allen to win a title.
After all, he's not getting any younger and there is so much young talent in today's NFL.
The Bills have reached the AFC Championship Game twice in the Allen era. Buffalo lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs both times.
Allen and Co. face the Detroit Lions in Week 2. That figures to be a very high-scoring game between Allen and Jared Goff.
The Bills scored 36 points in Week 1, while the Lions put up 31 against the New Orleans Saints.
The Bills have won each of their last five meetings with the Lions, a streak that dates back to 2010 when a previously winless Buffalo team beat Detroit 14-12.
The most recent victory then came in 2024, when Allen accounted for four touchdowns and the Bills took down the Lions, 48-42, in a shootout at Ford Field.
