A blockbuster NFL trade idea sending superstar WR Justin Jefferson from the Minnesota Vikings to the Buffalo Bills has been created.
Alex Kay of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade between the Vikings and Bills:
Buffalo Bills receive: WR Justin Jefferson
Minnesota Vikings receive: 2027 first-, second- and fourth-round picks, 2028 third- and fifth-round picks
This trade idea pairs Jefferson with Bills star QB Josh Allen. Neither Jefferson nor Allen has reached the Super Bowl yet. That could change if they were teammates in Buffalo.
"An Allen-Jefferson battery could put up historic numbers akin to what Randy Moss and Tom Brady accomplished with the 2007 New England Patriots," Kay wrote. "It would cost the Bills a haul of future picks to bring the tandem together, but doing so would give the club perhaps its best shot yet at a championship."
Jefferson's record four-year, $140 million contract will start accounting for approximately 15 percent of Minnesota's salary-cap space during the 2027 and 2028 seasons. If the Vikings continue to struggle, maybe we will see a Jefferson trade soon.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Jefferson enters next season with 579 receptions for 8,480 receiving yards and 42 receiving touchdowns in the NFL. He's only played in two playoff games, though.
Football fans around the world want to see the LSU product in the postseason more. For that to happen, Jefferson may have to request a trade and leave the Vikings.
The Bills have yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Allen era. That has to change soon. Otherwise, Allen will never be considered an all-time great despite being immensely talented.
The 2024 MVP, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The Pro Bowler enters next season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns.
Buffalo's front office isn't scared of making blockbuster trades. Brandon Beane acquired D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears this offseason. Beane also signed Bradley Chubb and C.J. Gardner-Johnson in free agency.
The odds of the Vikings trading Jefferson this year are very, very low. However, if Minnesota misses the playoffs again in 2026, Jefferson and his camp must consider requesting a trade. The star WR can't continue to waste his prime in poverty.
It will be fascinating to see if Allen and the Bills can reach the promised land next season in Year 1 of the Joe Brady era. Time is running out on Allen -- and Jefferson -- to win a championship. After all, neither superstar is getting any younger.
