Local radio host blasts Bills coach Joe Brady's repeated comments that Josh Allen's salary is hindering team moves, calling it a frustrating excuse.

Joe Brady has been the head coach of the Buffalo Bills for a little over a month, but he's already drawn the ire of one local radio host.

During a recent interview, Brady was asked about building the team and the moves they can realistically make. The first-year head coach spoke about how important it was to build through the draft, which makes sense. However, he then gave a reason that has led to frustration among fans and members of the media.

"When your quarterback's making as much money as he is, you're gonna have to build through the draft," Brady said during an interview with WGRZ-TV in Buffalo.

It's a message that's been echoed all offseason by both Brady and GM Brandon Beane. And, for WGR550 host Jeremy White, it's one he's tired of hearing.

"Stop. Stop saying that," White said. "The number one reason for Joe Brady to stop saying it is because Beane says it a lot, and he should stop saying it, too."

White added that there's already been a certain feeling about Brady being the hire, whether it's accurate or not.

"Anytime Brady says exactly what Beane says, he's going to be accused of just being a puppet. He's going to be accused of being a yes-man," White said. "And I don't think Joe Brady has to be that, of course.

"I think he has his own ideas, his own thoughts. And as soon as he's ready to tell us those thoughts that aren't direct quotes from the GM, and this one especially about how you're paying your quarterback a lot of money, you've got to make sacrifices, you sound like you are just saying what you're supposed to say."

Yes, Allen's salary cap hit is indeed high at $56.3 million in 2026—before a potential restructure. It's also true that, as of writing, the Bills sit roughly $7 million over the $301.2 million salary cap. But what's not entirely true is that Allen's contract prevents the team from making moves.

Buffalo has a lot of players signed to high-salaried deals. These deals, like the $17 million cap hit of Dawson Knox, are a far bigger problem for the team than Allen's deal.

White then ended by saying that both Brady and Beane can be "aligned", which has been the term of the winter for the Bills, without repeating the same message over and over.

"There's a difference between going against and simply not parroting the same line," he said. "Just don't say the thing where it's your quarterback makes a lot of money. Any version of that where they kind of—I don't even think they're attempting to lay blame at Allen's feet—but that's what you are doing when you say that. Well, he makes so much money, we can't have nice things, which is, of course, wrong."

Beane and the Bills are going to have to make moves in the coming days to get under the salary cap by March 11. What else they do around that is anyone's guess.
