The Buffalo Bills once again have a tough schedule heading into 2026.
Buffalo will face teams from the AFC West and NFC North while also drawing difficult matchups against teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Rams. All teams that, while Super Bowl contenders in their own right, failed to win their division last year, like the Bills.
Here are the toughest games on Buffalo’s schedule this season.
Week 12 vs Kansas City Chiefs
As long as Patrick Mahomes is in Kansas City and Josh Allen is in Buffalo, this matchup will sit near the top of the NFL calendar.
The good news for Buffalo is that this game is at home. The bad news is it’s still the Chiefs.
Even during down stretches, Kansas City remains one of the AFC’s measuring-stick teams. Every matchup between these teams carries playoff implications, and this could once again impact AFC seeding late in the year.
Week 1 at Houston Texans
For whatever reason, Houston has consistently been a difficult matchup for Buffalo in recent years.
The Houston Texans have become one of the AFC’s rising contenders, and playing them on the road makes this even tougher. Buffalo’s offense will be tested right away against one of the best defenses in the NFL that only seemed to get better in the offseason. It'll also be the first test for a new-look offense that includes DJ Moore.
This has all the makings of a playoff preview.
Week 8 vs Baltimore Ravens
Over the years, Buffalo and Baltimore have put on some incredible games. And we shouldn't expect anything different this time around.
The Ravens remain one of the NFL’s most physical teams, and they create problems very differently from most opponents. Containing Lamar Jackson is difficult enough on its own, but Baltimore’s ability to dominate games at the line of scrimmage makes them especially dangerous. Buffalo’s front seven will be tested heavily in this matchup.
The Bills have the advantage of playing this game at home, but it still feels like one of the hardest games on the schedule.
Week 5 at Los Angeles Rams
West Coast road trips are never easy, especially against experienced playoff teams.
The Los Angeles Rams remain dangerous because of their offensive creativity and ability to pressure quarterbacks defensively. If Buffalo struggles protecting Allen at any point during the season, this game could become a major concern quickly.
Depending on playoff positioning later in the year, this could also become one of Buffalo’s most important games. It also could be a Super Bowl preview against the favorite to come out of the NFC.
Week 14 at Green Bay Packers
Any trip to Lambeau Field is a tough game. Put that game in December and in prime time, and you have one of the toughest games the Bills will have all season.
The Green Bay Packers continue to build around a young, explosive offense, and late-season weather could add another layer of difficulty.

vs Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions may not have the national reputation of some AFC powers yet, but they’re one of the NFL’s most balanced teams. Their physicality on both lines makes this a difficult matchup. It's also the home opener at Buffalo's brand-new stadium, meaning emotions will be high. The Bills will have to keep them in check to avoid a letdown.
at Denver Broncos
Playing in Denver is never easy, and the Denver Broncos continue to improve defensively. It's also going to be a rematch of last year's AFC Divisional matchup, with many Bills players and fans looking to make a statement after the loss.
at Minnesota Vikings
Primetime road games are always difficult, and the atmosphere in Minnesota can be one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Even with questions at quarterback for the Vikings, it's not going to be an easy game.
