A Super Bowl champion had a lot to say about Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen.
A Super Bowl champion recently had strong words about Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen.
Defensive end Charles Omenihu, who signed with the Washington Commanders this offseason after playing the last three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, praised Allen while taking a few shots at Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson.
“I don’t think the league has truly figured [Allen] out,” Omenihu said on the Speakeasy podcast. “With Lamar, honestly, you bring a five-man rush on him and collapse that pocket, he’s drifting backwards and, unfortunately, he might make a play that isn’t going to be the best play for the Ravens.
“With Josh, he’s going to drift backwards, run around, and he’s so hard to tackle. He’s a large human being, hard to get down, he can make every throw. Every throw from no matter where he’s at. His arm strength is unbelievable. I don’t think Lamar has that big amount of arm strength like Josh does. Like I said, I think you’ve figured out Lamar. You come after him, you close all the lanes, you five-man rush him and you cover his guys, and I think you get it done. It’s been shown.”
Neither Allen nor Jackson has made it to the Super Bowl. Both players have won an MVP Award.
Allen had right foot surgery after the 2025 season ended. The surgery was done on a broken bone in his foot.
The 2024 MVP, Allen finished with 3,668 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns last season. The future Hall of Famer enters next season with 30,102 passing yards, 220 passing touchdowns, 4,721 rushing yards and 79 career rushing touchdowns.
"As much success as we've had over the last eight to nine seasons, we still haven't been able to get the main job done," Allen said after Joe Brady was hired as the Bills' new HC. "So again, what does that look like? Who's involved in those decisions of what it looks like? But I truly believe in the direction of this organization, starting from the top. And I think that, again, whatever Joe needs from me I'm going to do. And I think that it's the right decision for this organization."
It will be fascinating to see how far the Bills go next season in Year 1 of the Brady era. Buffalo acquired D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears this offseason, giving Allen a new No. 1 WR.
