The Buffalo Bills have a number of holes to fill in the roster, and at least one trade proposal would plug one up in a major way.
A new trade proposal has the Buffalo Bills getting some major help for Josh Allen and the offense.
It's no secret that the Bills are going to be looking at upgrades to the wide receiver room. Last season saw its leading receiver—Khalil Shakir—go for just 719 yards, and the most receiving touchdowns came from tight end Dalton Kincaid with six. The mantra of "everybody eats" just didn't work for a team that struggled to effectively push the ball downfield.
So, to fix that problem, one writer for NFL.com suggests that the Bills make a move to acquire Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown.
Nick Shook says that trading Brown away wouldn't be a "smart move" for the Eagles, but there's no denying the drama that continues to involve the team and player. He says, which many might agree with, that it feels like the pairing might finally be coming to an end. And although there will likely be many suitors should Brown be made available, Buffalo is the one team it makes the most sense to do a deal with.
"They [Eagles] might be able to extract the most value from a team like the Bills, who have desperately needed a top receiver ever since they sent Stefon Diggs to Houston," Shook writes.
"Brown would give Josh Allen the star target he’s lacked in recent years and might welcome a fresh start with another title contender. It should cost the Bills a significant amount, but if ever there were a time for Buffalo to push all of its chips to the center of the table, it’s now."
As far as what the Bills would likely need to send to the Eagles, Shook didn't try to guess that. However, it could be assumed that it would take at least an early-round draft pick and maybe more.
There's also the issue with the salary cap. Brown comes with a cap hit of $23.9 million this year and is under contract through the 2029 season, meaning the Bills would have to move money out or restructure a number of players to make it fit. It can be done, but it would require President of Football Operations Brandon Beane, to do some work.
