Linebacker Logan Wilson Wants Out Of Cincinnati

The Buffalo Bills have a top-five offense, but the team’s defense has fallen from a top-five unit down to 15th in the NFL.

Injuries to key players like defensive tackles Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, and T.J. Sanders, linebacker Matt Milano, safety Damar Hamlin, and cornerbacks Maxwell Hairston and Dorian Strong have played a big role in the defense’s seeming regression, but the front seven has also had a tough time stopping the run in recent weeks, which in turn, makes things harder on the secondary.

While many have proposed the Bills should trade for a wide receiver (they’ve been linked to Philadelphia’s A.J. Brown, Miami’s Jaylen Waddle, and New Orleans’ Chris Olave) or a cornerback (they’ve also been linked to Seattle’s Tariq Woolen and New Orleans’ Alontae Taylor), but Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com recently urged the team to consider trading for Cincinnati Bengals linebacker and team captain Logan Wilson.

It was reported that Wilson requested a trade on Thursday—just days before the team’s Week 8 matchup against the New York Jets—and Talbot took to social media to remind everyone that he thinks Wilson would be a good fit in Buffalo.

“Logan Wilson was one of my 10 targets for the #Bills,” he tweeted.

Just days before, Talbot wrote a top 10 players the Bills should target in a trade, and Wilson, who was teammates with Bills quarterback Josh Allen at Wyoming, was among the players he listed.

“If the Bills wanted to add a linebacker, Logan Wilson is a realistic target,” Talbot wrote. “Cincinnati recently demoted Wilson for rookie Barrett Carter. Yet, when the Bengals needed a big play on Thursday Night Football, it was Wilson who delivered.

“In addition to being a team captain, something that would appeal to Buffalo, Wilson is also a strong tackler. This season, Wilson has the best missed tackle rate among all Bengals linebackers. Considering Buffalo’s issues with tackling, Wilson would be a

welcome addition to the linebacker room.”

Wilson is among the Bengals’ top defensive players, logging 41 tackles, four passes defensed, and one forced fumble through even games this season.

The 29-year-old Wilson could be an immediate fill-in for Milano, who’s been limited to just three appearances this season and hasn’t played more than five games in a season since 2022.
