The Denver Broncos have emerged as a possible landing spot for eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson as the Indianapolis Colts weigh major decisions ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
The Denver Broncos could have an opportunity to upgrade their offensive line before the November 10 NFL trade deadline.
And one of the league's most accomplished guards is emerging as a potential target.
Indianapolis Colts star Quenton Nelson, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro, has been linked to Denver amid uncertainty surrounding his future.
According to ESPN, NFL teams are exploring potential trades involving several Indianapolis veterans, including Nelson, Jonathan Taylor and DeForest Buckner.
The Colts have not committed to trading Nelson, but Denver has surfaced as a possible destination.
In a recent Broncos On SI analysis, Chad Jensen identified Nelson among five realistic trade targets who could strengthen Denver's postseason chances.
Jensen suggested a second-round draft pick might be enough to acquire Nelson, although that's an analyst's estimate rather than a reported asking price.
Nelson, 30, has spent his entire career with Indianapolis since being selected sixth overall in the 2018 draft.
And he remains among the NFL's elite interior offensive linemen.
According to Pro Football Focus, Nelson has earned an 86.6 overall grade this season, ranking third among 74 qualifying guards.
He also ranks third in pass blocking (81.9) and fourth in run blocking (83.4), allowing no sacks across 468 offensive snaps.
Those numbers could appeal to a Denver offense seeking greater consistency protecting quarterback Bo Nix and establishing its running game.
The Broncos currently start Ben Powers at left guard and Quinn Meinerz on the right side, creating questions about how Nelson would fit.
His contract presents another consideration.
Nelson is in the final season of a four-year, $80 million extension, meaning Denver would likely need to consider another expensive deal to retain him beyond 2026.
General manager George Paton could use Denver's upcoming bye week to integrate a potential acquisition.
However, Nelson has expressed his attachment to Indianapolis.
"I love it here, I met my wife here, I really appreciate and love this organization," Nelson said, according to NFL.com.
The Broncos improved to 5-2 with Sunday's 30-16 victory over Arizona and face Kansas City this weekend.
Whether Denver actually pursues Nelson remains unknown.
But with the deadline approaching, he's a name worth watching.
