Denver will be without running back RJ Harvey and safety Talanoa Hufanga against Kansas City, while Brandon Jones and three other starters are questionable.

The Denver Broncos will be without running back RJ Harvey and safety Talanoa Hufanga for Sunday's AFC West showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Both players were ruled out Friday, while safety Brandon Jones is among four Denver starters listed as questionable.

Harvey's absence is a significant development after he was added to Thursday's injury report as a limited participant with a knee injury.

The rookie running back did not practice Friday, and the Broncos officially ruled him out with what the team's final injury update identified as a hip injury.

Denver did not explain the discrepancy between the two injury listings.

According to the Broncos' official Friday injury report, Harvey and Hufanga will both miss Sunday's game, while Jones remains uncertain because of a hamstring injury.

With Harvey sidelined, veteran J.K. Dobbins and rookie Jonah Coleman could see additional opportunities. Coleman's recent emergence has provided a boost to Denver's running game.

Hufanga, meanwhile, will miss his third consecutive game after suffering an ankle injury against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5.

The veteran safety has been one of Denver's most productive defensive playmakers this season, recording two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

His absence becomes particularly concerning with Jones also dealing with an injury.

Jones was added to Thursday's report as a limited participant with a hamstring issue and remained limited Friday before receiving a questionable designation.

The Broncos could be forced to make further adjustments in the secondary if Jones cannot play alongside Hufanga's replacement.

The team has previously leaned on its secondary depth while dealing with injuries to several starters, including cornerback Pat Surtain II.

There was encouraging news regarding Surtain, however. He practiced fully for three consecutive days and carries no injury designation into Sunday's matchup.

Other players listed as questionable include defensive lineman Zach Allen (hamstring), offensive tackle Garett Bolles (hip) and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (chest).

All three were limited participants in Friday's practice.

The injury concerns come ahead of a critical division matchup, with Denver attempting to overcome Kansas City while potentially missing several important contributors on both sides of the ball.
