The Denver Broncos moved to 9-2 on the season with a 22-19 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Denver.
The Broncos now have a comfortable lead over the Chiefs and they have a two-game lead over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West standings.
The Chiefs took the lead in the fourth quarter before Wil Lutz tied it, and Lutz then hit the game-winning field goal in the closing seconds.
However, Denver was never comfortable, especially against the three-time AFC champions.
ESPN's Dan Graziano was in Denver for the game, and he mentioned the Chiefs still have that "aura," but the Broncos clearly showed they were the better team.
"I was in Denver on Sunday for the Chiefs-Broncos game, and I can tell you no one on that Broncos' sideline was willing to exhale or relax until they saw that Wil Lutz game-winning kick go through the uprights at the end. The Chiefs still retain that aura of a team to whom you don't want to offer any kind of opening. That said, the Broncos looked like the better team all day and have reason to believe they will be the team to end Kansas City's streak of nine straight AFC West titles. Playing without Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II (pectoral) and leading tackler Alex Singleton (surgery for testicular cancer), the Broncos still played smothering defense against Patrick Mahomes & Co. -- and they could get those guys back after their Week 12 bye," Graziano wrote.
Kansas City is Kansas City, and although Travis Kelce and others are having a down year, this team is still a threat, especially with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.
For that reason, Denver was not comfortable until the clock struck zero and Lutz knocked through the game-winner.
Denver has a bye in Week 12, and they then face the Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars and then the Chiefs and Chargers to end the year.
