As the Denver Broncos battle for the top seed in the AFC and the AFC West division crown, the play of second-year quarterback Bo Nix has been fun to watch.
Nix has played well and has this Broncos team moving in the right direction for a lot of reasons.
The Broncos defense is also a juggernaut, and Sean Payton has shown that he can still be a quality NFL head coach.
Nix enters Week 16 with 3,256 yards, 23 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. In his rookie season, he threw for 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, so he could break those numbers if he plays well over the final few games.
Dan Graziano of ESPN spoke with Broncos veteran Evan Engram, and he revealed what impresses him with Nix.
"You know when you have a gamer," Engram told Graziano. "He's a guy who's going to go out there and make whatever play he needs to make, whether it's with his arm, with his feet, whatever is needed in that moment. He obviously has tremendous confidence. He's had games or moments he's wanted back, but the coolest thing about him is, when he makes a bad play, instantly it's like, 'I'm going to get this fixed.' So he has that confidence and that ability to make plays in the pocket with his arm, and he's also able to correct things in a very quick period of time."
Engram has experience with a Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence as he spent three years with the Jaguars before coming to Denver in 2025.
Engram began his career with the New York Giants after being selected 23rd overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Nix is winning over the locker room quickly in Denver, and earning praise from a veteran such as Engram shows how well the Broncos QB has made the transition from college to the NFL.
Right now, the Broncos are focused on what they can control. Yes, they have clinched a playoff berth after Week 15, but they need to win in order to keep the Chargers away from making the AFC West race very interesting.
After Week 16's game against the Jaguars, the Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs, who are without Patrick Mahomes, and the Chargers, who defeated the Broncos way back in September at SoFi Stadium.
And, oddly enough, that was the most recent game the Broncos lost.
