The Denver Broncos moved to 1-0 on the season on Sunday after taking care of business by the Tennessee Titans by a score of 20-12.

It wasn't the prettiest performance by the Broncos, but the defense showed the entire league why it might be the best group in all of the NFL.

Quarterback Bo Nix struggled at times, as he finished 25-of-40 for 176 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He was able to connect with wide receiver Courtland Sutton on a 22-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Sutton finished with six catches for 61 yards, and moved into top 10 all-time in Broncos history with 5,401 receiving yards.

He entered the game in 11th place, but was able to pass Emmanuel Sanders in the win. Rod Smith is the all-time leader with 11, 389 yards, while Demaryius Thomas is second with 9,055 yards.

Sutton was drafted by the Broncos with the No. 40 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, after playing his college football at SMU. He is fourth all-time for the Mustangs in yards, as he finished his college career with 195 catches for 3,220 yards and 31 touchdowns.

During the early part in his career in Denver, consistent play has been an issue at the quarterback position. It has really been an issue for the Broncos since Peyton Manning retired in 2016. However, if last year was a sign of things to come, then Denver may have found its guy in Nix.

Despite this being only their second year together, Sutton and Nix have developed a quite a chemistry. Last season, Sutton finished with 81 catches for 1,081 yards and eight touchdowns.  Those numbers were a career-high in catches, while also being the second-most yards and touchdowns in a seasons.

The Broncos are looked at as a team that can make some noise in the AFC. Everybody knows how good the defense is, as it is a group that is Super Bowl caliber.

For Denver to truly be a contender, then the Broncos are going to need Sutton to have a big year. The rest of the receiving core is talented, but young. Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims Jr. are capable of making big plays, but they are still second and third year players respectively.

Sutton is the one guy on the team that is capable of winning a one-on-one matchup on the outside, while also catching the 50-50 ball.

Up next for the Broncos is a game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. Sutton enters that game only 49 yards behind No. 9 all-time wide receiver Haven Moses.
