Orlovsky gushes over the Denver Broncos' blockbuster move for Jaylen Waddle, calling it the "missing piece" and a game-changer for the AFC West.

The Denver Broncos surprised everybody by getting off to a very slow free agency.

The Broncos didn't sign a single external free agent, although they did bring back running back J.K. Dobbins and a few others. Defensive tackle John Franklin-Myers left as expected, getting a massive payday from the Tennessee Titans.

But, on Tuesday, things changed, and it wasn't a free agency signing. The Broncos sent their first-round pick this year, along with a third and fourth, to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle

The Dolphins also send back a fourth-round pick, so the deal essentially amounts to a first and third-rounder for Waddle.

Waddle is under contract through the 2028 season, and he has big-play ability and should instantly slot in as the WR1 in Denver.

Right after the trade, Dan Orlovsky reacted on "First Take," and the former NFL quarterback says he absolutely loves the move.

"I absolutely love this for Denver," Orlovsky said. "It was the missing piece for their football team."

"They needed a true wide receiver with speed," Orlovsky added. "I think that's the team to beat in the AFC West."

Orlovsky also said he likes this trade for the Dolphins, who released Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill and are in a rebuild with a new head coach, new GM and a new quarterback with Malik Willis signing with the Dolphins in free agency.

The Broncos' WR room did need another piece. Courtland Sutton had 74 catches for 1,017 yards with seven touchdowns, and he has been the top option in Denver for some time.

After that was Troy Franklin, who played at Oregon, and he had 65 receptions for 709 yards with six scores.

However, it fell off after that, with Pat Bryant catching 31 passes for 378 yards and no other WR crossing the 500-yard threshold.

The Broncos' only other WR to have more than 300 yards receiving was Marvin Mims Jr., so they wanted to give Bo Nix another option in the WR room, and Waddle brings that to the fold.

The Broncos draft strategy will now change drastically with no first or third-round choice, although the 1-2-3 WR punch of Waddle, Sutton and Franklin is a talented group to work with in Denver.

The Broncos got off to a very slow start in free agency, but landing Waddle in this massive trade is a big boost and a step in the right direction.
