The Denver Broncos look to clean up their offensive mistakes in their Week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Denver’s offense has been concerning to say the least. Yes, the team is 8-2, but the offense doesn’t really get going until they’re trailing in the fourth quarter more times than not. The blunt of the blame goes to quarterback Bo Nix, who looks like he’s in the midst of a sophomore slump.

It’s important to note that even with the offense no where near what it should be as a contender leading their division, the Broncos have found ways to win through the gritty defense.

It’s going to be increasingly difficult to win games down the stretch and in the playoffs when the offense isn’t doing its part for 75 percent of the game.

“At some point we've got to start moving the ball and scoring some points,” Nix said following the Broncos’ 10-7 over the Las Vegas Raiders Thursday night. "Between penalties and sluggish football, we're just not playing very good. It starts with me, I've got to be better ... we've got to find some juice.”

Nix completed 16 of 28 passes for 150 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 10. It was another game where Nix had “happy feet” in the pocket and was missing receivers.

The good news is that even when the offense is faltering early, if the defense keeps the offense in the game, they will find a way to gut out a victory. Reportedly, several players are concerned about the offense.

“I was in Denver on Thursday night, and it's fair to say that Broncos players are concerned about the offense. Multiple offensive players acknowledged that the team is playing with fire if it doesn't improve,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote Wednesday. “Denver knows quarterback Bo Nix is better than how he played Thursday night, as Las Vegas had a good, defensive-linemen-heavy game plan on a short week that thwarted the Broncos' attack. The Broncos missed receiver Marvin Mims Jr. more than one would think. He's the easy yards guy when the offense struggles.

“Nix still has a few things going for him: He has a knack for moving the ball downfield, even when it's not pretty, and he's clutch in the fourth quarter. But recent struggles from Nix and the passing game suggest the Broncos could be destined for an early playoff exit despite their defensive dominance if the offense doesn't improve.”

The Chiefs travel to Denver coming off their bye week, and if there’s ever a team that you’d rather not face coming off a bye, it’s the Chiefs. Head coach Andy Reid is 22-4 coming off byes in his coaching career.
