With a crowded receiver room, one young talent emerges as Denver's most valuable trade chip. Will he be on the move before draft day?
The Denver Broncos' draft pick haul looks a lot lighter than it did at the beginning of the NFL free agency period.
That is due to the Jaylen Waddle blockbuster trade, and the Broncos sent multiple picks, including this year's first-round pick, to Miami to land Waddle.
The good news is that the Broncos landed a bona fide WR1 on the offense, and Waddle has multiple years remaining on his contract, which makes it a bit expensive but also worth the gamble for the Broncos.
Could another trade be coming? With the suddenly crowded WR room, some players could be moved, with Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims Jr. as two potential trade candidates.
John Kosko of Pro Football Focus named each team's biggest trade asset with the 2026 NFL Draft looming, and he had Mims as the top asset for Denver.
Now, Mims was selected in the second round at No. 63 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he has just 98 receptions for 1,202 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons, with just one receiving score in 2023 and 2025.
That certainly isn't what Denver expected with a second-round pick, although there are other reasons for his low production.
Kosko adds that one of Franklin or Mims could be moved, but Mims' usage as a returner likely means he has a tad more value than Franklin.
"Neither player has fully broken out in Denver, but both offer speed and field-stretching ability. While neither would command significant draft capital, Mims likely carries more value due to his added impact as a returner," Kosko wrote.
Mims has returned 74 punts in three seasons with one touchdown and a kickoff return for a touchdown as well.
Another thing that is boosting Mims' value was his recent playoff success. Against the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round, he had eight catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Then, he had four receptions for 62 yards in the AFC title game, including the huge play shown above.
The Broncos also have Pat Bryant and Lil'Jordan Humphrey in the WR room, but Denver could float Mims or Franklin to see what type of value they could get, especially with Courtland Sutton and Waddle locked as the top two wide receivers.
As the NFL Draft gets closer, the Broncos still have areas they need to address, and maybe moving one of the receivers could land them an extra draft pick to fill another void.
