With limited picks, the Denver Broncos eye offensive tackle and tight end to bolster a crucial unit for their future success.
The Denver Broncos' 2026 NFL Draft strategy has changed considerably in a matter of one month.
The Broncos traded away their first and third-round picks this season as part of the blockbuster trade that brought them wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins.
That means the Broncos' first pick in the draft isn't until Day 2 at No. 62 overall at the end of the second round.
There are some areas they need to address, and the ESPN insiders had some new intel for every team with the draft two weeks away.
Jeff Legwold said one position that Denver needs to address is tight end, which has become a recurring theme.
Legwold said they need to find a starter at tight end at some point in this draft.
"Perhaps not the starter, given coach Sean Payton's comments about liking the group with Evan Engram (50 catches last season) and Adam Trautman returning, but Denver certainly needs more impact. The Broncos' tight ends combined for three touchdowns last season, and none of them averaged more than 9.8 yards per reception," Legwold wrote.
The Broncos have been bringing in tight ends for top-30 visits, including ones with Max Klare from Ohio State and Justin Joly from North Carolina State.
Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers is another option, but the latest mock drafts have Stowers going well before the Broncos pick at No. 62, and some teams even view him as a wide receiver, so that could change things.
The Broncos have a visit lined up with Stowers for next week as well.
Could Offensive Line be an Option at No. 62?
There are several positions the Broncos could address with that second-round pick, but ESPN's Matt Miller gave some insight into the latest intel they have heard about the team's plans, and it is about an offensive line player perhaps being selected there.
"With only one pick inside the top 100, the Broncos must be strategic about how they'll fill needs in this draft. One position I've heard could be in play at No. 62 is offensive tackle," Miller wrote.
Garrett Bolles is 34 and Mike McGlinchey is 31, so adding some youth to the position group as a depth piece would be a wise choice, especially with Bo Nix coming off an injury.
The Broncos have seven picks in this draft, although three of them are in the seventh round, so they have to be smart about how they use the earlier selections in some areas they need to address.
The NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 23 in Pittsburgh.
