The Denver Broncos are holding a rookie minicamp, and the son of former NFL QB Kurt Warner is coming to Denver to participate.

The Denver Broncos didn't have many high picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, largely because they traded several selections in order to acquire Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

Still, the Broncos added some pieces they needed, including addressing the tight end, running back and defensive tackle positions.

The Broncos quarterback room appears set with Bo Nix as the QB1 and either Jarrett Stidham or Sam Ehlinger - who re-signed this offseason - as the backup to Nix.

However, the Broncos have given an invitation to one undrafted rookie: E.J. Warner.

Warner is the son of former NFL QB Kurt Warner, and E.J. spent time at Temple (2 seasons), and then one year each at Rice and Fresno State.

Warner also attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie camp recently but left without a deal, so now he gets to head to Denver in hopes of making a strong impression and landing a deal with the reigning AFC West champions.

Warner had 41 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in two seasons at Temple, then transferred to Rice and had 2,710 yards with 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in just one year.

Then, he went to Fresno State, although he put up the lowest numbers of his career with the Bulldogs: 2,030 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Warner had a four-touchdowns game early in the season, and he led Fresno State to a win over Miami Ohio in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl.

Fresno State finished with a 6-4 overall record, so while Warner's numbers didn't exactly jump off the page, he did what was needed to win games and keep Fresno State in the game time and time again.

In theory, there is a path to Warner hanging around with a deal of some sorts.

Nix is coming off a season-ending injury, although he is expected to be fully ready by the time Week 1 begins.

While Stidham and Ehlinger are on the roster, the Broncos might decide to use a QB on the practice squad and begin the year with three signal-callers on the active roster, especially with Nix recovering from the injury and neither one of Stidham or Ehlinger jumping off the page when given the opportunity to get into the game.

Warner has talent, and he jumped around a lot in college, but there could be a chance the son of Kurt Warner finds himself impressing Sean Payton and company in Denver.
