Super Bowl MVP's Free Agency Could Reshape Broncos Offense This Offseason cover image

Broncos target Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. He could pair with emerging star RJ Harvey for a potent backfield.

The Super Bowl MVP, running back Kenneth Walker III, is not expected to receive the franchise tag from the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Fresh off a Super Bowl win, the 25-year-old should garner loads of interest this offseason.

One of the interested teams will certainly be the Denver Broncos. Denver needs another running back after relying solely on rookie RJ Harvey last season, after J.K. Dobbins was sidelined for the back half of the year. Now, Dobbins is a free agent after his one-year deal expired.

This leaves the door open for the Broncos to go out and snag another veteran back to take the load off of Harvey’s shoulders. Harvey solidified his spot as part of the Broncos’ passing game last season, totaling 356 yards and five touchdowns on 47 receptions. He showed room for growth on the ground, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry in his rookie season.

Walker III can be the perfect running back to pair with Harvey in Denver. He enjoyed his second season of at least 1,000 rushing yards last season in Seattle, scoring five touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. His 60.4 rushing yards per game almost doubled what Harvey provided in 2025.

With Walker III taking most of the work in the ground game and Harvey stepping in as a passing option, the Broncos would hold a deadly one-two punch in their backfield. Though Walker III has already played four seasons in the NFL, the two are just months apart in age, perfectly aligning with each other’s timeline. He’d bring some experience to Denver’s backfield while keeping that youth at the position.

The Broncos have nearly $21 million in cap space available to spend this offseason. Finally free from the financial restrictions caused by the Russell Wilson contract, the Broncos should have more flexibility this offseason to build off of their AFC West-winning season.

The time is now for Denver, as quarterback Bo Nix is still on his rookie contract. Though several areas of the roster should receive attention this offseason, the offense should take priority. Inconsistency on that side of the field followed the Broncos all season long, and if they want to make a deep playoff run again in 2026, they’ll need to bolster their offensive weapons. Signing the Super Bowl MVP is certainly one way to do just that.
